These collectible vintage Wingback pierced earrings are a unique find! The gold tone textured metal resembles pinecones or artichoke heads, created by overlapping that give a 3D, sculptural look that reflect light.
The earrings feature the Wingback mechanism, a brilliant invention that evenly distributes and balances the weight of earrings. They are marked on the wire with "Wingback PAT 2414382," dating them between 1947 - 1970. The backs are marked with "L" or "R" for left and right, ensuring a perfect fit. They are not marked with a makers mark. The original inventor of the Wingback is Judith McCann Designs who also indicated the L and R on each earring.
The drop is approximately 1 1/8 inch.
