The exterior has a dynamic design with a dramatic black/dark brown upper section decorated with hand-painted white butterfly or floral motifs and subtle blue lines. The lower section features a prominent cream-colored crackle glaze with fine crazing lines. The interior is glazed in a glossy teal green. The base is painted a solid black with a bold gold painted character signature or mark, pointing to its origins in Japanese ceramic art.
