This authentic Mid Century Modern lamp is a large piece of sculptural art that makes a striking statement. As one expert described it, "It exemplifies contradiction. It looks heavy, but is extremely light. It exudes the softness of a cloud, but has bold undulating ribs and a puddle of amber color on top. "
No signature is visible, but it is cleary an Italian masterpiece designed for Mazzega, a Murano-based art glass company in Venice, Italy, by Carlos Nason or Toni Zuccheri. Known for their icoic "egg" designs, with pools of amber highlighting ethereal shapes like this table lamp, Nason and Zuccheri used traditional Murano glas- blowing techniques in colors that were synonymous with 1970's interiors.
