This is the fragrance master Firmenich nose Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud used to introduce the world to two wild innovations -- the ambery-citrus frag -- that opens with yuzu but always has this rich, orangey-syrup backbone (he's still at with Tygar) and the incense-aquatic -- here he gives an almost oceanic summer frag a lingering smoke, an unexpected mixture the Acqua di Gio line would copy soon afterward.

Features an early usage of ambroxan to give citrus lasting power and to evoke the ambergris that floats atop the ocean's waves, its olfactive profile morphing daily under the beating sun until it finally washes ashore.
