Antique Traditional Wooden Chakli Press/Idiyappam Maker/Multifunction Press

I've been in possession of this for the last 30 years, and it was old when I got it. I've had it on my shelf along with other items I used to draw, but I never knew what it was for


A Google search says it's an antique chakli press or idiyappam maker


This type of kitchen press is used to make various Indian snacks and dishes like murukku, sev, noodles, and string hoppers.


The design is traditional, often handmade from wood and sometimes featuring brass components for the press discs (jalis).


It operates by placing dough inside the cup and pressing down on the handle to extrude the food through small holes.


These items are often considered collectibles due to their antique nature and traditional craftsmanship.
