The Tallgrass Prairie America the Beautiful quarter is a coin issued by
the United States Mint in 2020 as part of the America the Beautiful
Quarters Program. It commemorates the Tallgrass Prairie National
Preserve in Kansas, which protects one of America's few remaining areas
of tallgrass prairie. The design features an image of a regal fritillary
butterfly, a species native to the preserve, with a backdrop of a
native grass and wildflowers in the prairie. The reverse also includes
the inscriptions "Tallgrass Prairie," "Kansas," "E Pluribus Unum," and
the year of issuance. The America the Beautiful Quarters Program is a
series of coins that honor some of America's most iconic and beloved
natural and cultural landmarks.
